Log Cabin Series — Inspiration
According to quilt historians, the Log Cabin motif became especially popular in 1863, when the Union army was raising money for the Civil War by raffling quilts. The pattern may have been a symbol of loyalty to Abraham Lincoln as head of the Union. It was in a log cabin in Kentucky that Lincoln was born, and others where he lived in both Indiana and Illinois.
