It's not often that I can convince one of my girls to model for me, so when Calais agreed to show off the new L'Escargot Bleu wrap, I jumped at the chance. Our photoshoot took place on the shores of Lake Tahoe, CA during our family vacation in July.
This stunning wrap is my favorite recently completed project. Designed by Lisa Di Fruscia for Espace Tricot, the pattern is free on Ravelry.
In her description, Lisa writes, "A simple but effective scarf / wrap in the form of a sail: it begins at the narrowest point and widens by increasing 2 stitches every 6 rows. Each stripe is 6 rows. On the 3rd row of each stripe, there is an increase at each end of the row. Yarn is carried up throughout the scarf and the unknit colour is twisted every 2 rows. Chic and versatile!" We couldn't agree more.
Our version was knit using Trendsetter Yarn's Ecopuno, a deliciously soft blend of 75% cotton, 15% merino, and 10% alpaca. Ecopuno knits up beautifully with a soft halo, terrific stitch definition, and lovely drape, making it a perfect yarn for all-season shawls, sweaters, and wraps. In this case, we held it double, resulting in an extra cozy but not-too-heavy fabric.
With our yarn held double, we had to alter the stitch count and number of rows slightly in order to get the same finished dimensions, which was easy to do. (To learn more about these simple modifications, visit Izzy Knits' Ravelry Project Page.)
