Celestial Spheres Throw Pillow - Knit Pattern

This is a knitting/sewing pattern in two parts:

1. Knitting an Intarsia pillow front, as shown.
2. Machine-sewing a lined, zippered pillow cover.

OVERVIEW
Knitting techniques used include knit and purl, as well as color switching using the intarsia method. Panel is knit flat. Knitting instructions are written and charted. Measurements are in inches and centimeters. Sewing instructions are in inches only. Basic machine sewing experience is assumed. Due to the challenge of sewing with extremely thick (knit) fabric, this pattern is not recommended as a first sewing project.

Size: One size. 
Finished Dimensions: 17" x 17" [approx. 43cm x 43cm] square.

KNITTING DETAILS
Needles & Notions: US 7 & 8 [4.5 & 5.0mm] needles on a 24" [60cm] cable, or size required to achieve gauge + 3 locking stitch markers.
Gauge: 6 sts x 25 rows = 4" [10cm] over stockinette, knit in Noro Kureyon on US 7 circular needles.
Yarn: This is a great project for using up some stash! Non-superwash, 100% wool yarn recommended in worsted/ bulky weight.

• Color A (CA): Approx. 95yds [87m] - Background, right.
• Color B (CB): Approx. 110yds [100m] - Background, left.
• Color C (CC): Approx. 60yds [55m] - Large sphere.
• Color D (CD): Approx. 25 yds [23m] - Small sphere.

SEWING DETAILS
Fabric & Materials:

• Fabric A – muslin or cotton (2/3 yd [36" min]).
• Fabric B - cotton canvas, denim, or twill (2/3 yd [36" min]).
• Fabric C – quilting cotton (2/3 yd [45" min]).
• (1) nylon coil zipper #3 (cut to 16.5")
• (1) 17" pillow form

Supplies:

• Cutting mat, ruler, and rotary cutter.
• Fabric shears and utility scissors.
• Sewing clips and/or pins.
• Disappearing fabric marker or chalk pen.
• Walking foot (necessary) and zipper foot.
• #16 (heavy) sewing machine needle.
