This beanie has a relaxed vibe with undulating fabric rolls and an unusually flat, star-shaped crown.

The Jelly Roll Beanie is knit with worsted weight yarn. I recommend using a self-striping yarn (as shown) to further accentuate the texture created by alternating stripes of knit and purl stitches. Decreases at the crown create a star-shaped spiral on top.

Knit and purl, decreasing, working small circumferences in the round with magic loop (or method of choice). Instructions are written.

Designed by Susan Watkins -- one size (fits head with up to 22.5" circ.; 19" [48cm] circ. at brim x 7.5" [19cm] tall, unstretched); US 7 [4.5mm] circular, 32" [80cm] long for magic loop; 14 sts x 40 rows = 4" [10cm] over pattern, blocked and at rest/not stretched

Noro Kureyon (1.75oz/50g [108yd/100m]), 100% wool, worsted/bulky weight yarn (Z plied)

Inspired by a hat that appeared in the Fall/Winter 2019 issue (#15) of Noro Magazine, the Jelly Roll Beanie is knit in the round, whereas the original was knit flat and seamed.
