These festive, handcrafted folk ornaments depict fanciful winter animals in their natural setting, as imagined by this crafty maker. Designed and hand-stitched by Susan using a colorful palette of wool felt and vibrant threads, these ornaments are sure to add a bit of whimsy to your winter decor!

Made from the highest quality 100% merino wool felt, each "folk animal" displays a delightful blend of rustic simplicity and artistic flair, featuring bright colors, bold patterns, layered textiles, and free-form stitching. Each is soft to the touch and made to last, with saturated colors that won't fade. An ivory grosgrain ribbon loop is included for hanging.

What Makes It Special

I love using various layers of felt to color my ornaments, which I then embellish with embroidery. But this has proven to be tricky with these nature scenes. Simplifying a detailed image (a rabbit in a fir forest, for example) into just one or two colors of 100% wool felt (which is thicker than the cheap stuff) while keeping the subject recognizable, the pieces appropriately sized for cutting, and everything aligned so that the colors layer precisely takes work. Sometimes, I complete an ornament, start-to-finish, and then decide to go back and tweak it... and that's when you'll find a new ornament added to my "One-off & Prototypes" collection. These truly one-of-a-kind ornaments are available at a substantial savings!
